Why do people buy Christmas stuff more at retail stores than as used goods?

Why do people flock to retail stores where they have to pay premium prices to buy Christmas decorations, and yet at yard sales and thrift stores, people don’t even look at Christmas stuff? I ran ads on Craig’s List starting for Christmas things I found in Mom’s attic at very inexpensive prices. Then lowered the prices several times. Finally I posted them for free and still no nibbles. Can’t give away Christmas decorations!

As a child my parents would take me to see a house decorated with dozens and dozens of custom christmas lawn art characters. I was so amazed at how they did it, That I figured they must have been artists or have worked for Disney. Unfortantly many years have gone by and the resident no longer display the characters. About 4 years ago I bought many of the gemmy air blowns which were fun for the season but I got sick and tired of strapping them down and cleaning the snow and ice off them that I decided to create something joyous from my memories of my childhood that would make many people smile during the holiday seasons. I figured it was about time to try and create some characters, so I took some plywood, my jigsaw, and paint and got to work in the basement. 23 characters later , and alot of smiles from drivers who pass my home. I’m sure this will bring alot of memories and happiness to all the people who remembered that house we all went to as children in Saddlebrook NJ From our home to yours, Happy Holidays!!

Have you ever had outdoor Christmas decorations stolen?

Someone stole a reindeer from my fron yard. It pissed me off pretty bad. If I catch the guy he’ll get a knuckle sandwich, a large wedgee, and possibly a smack with my billy club. How can someone steal a holiday decoration? What a loser.

How do I protect the Christmas light plugs from the sprinkler system?

We live in a warm climate. This weekend we put up our Christmas lights and yard decorations; however, the sprinkler system keeps tripping the outlets. I’ve heard if I wrap the plugs with plastic it will protect them from the water, but won’t they still sweat? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
The plugs are lying on the ground. The outlets are not the problem. Thanks for the suggestions.
